UWE, BAM Project Now Complete
December 4, 2020 2:20 pmSimply Cleaning has officially completed the School of Engineering project at UWE for BAM construction, to the highest of industry standards.
Situated next to Bristol Business School at the heart of Frenchay Campus, the latest inclusion for UWE is a state-of-the-art engineering building, designed by architects AHR. The new 8,500 m² building will include teaching and research facilities such as wind tunnels, engine test cells and learning space dedicated a wide range of engineering disciplines.
Now complete, the £22m engineering building for the University of the West of England can accommodate 100 academic and technical staff, along with over 1,600 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The faculty of engineering & design new facility will push forward UWE’s ambition to become a leading engineering school in the country.

Our construction cleaning team’s operational duties at the site spanned many months. The cleaning schedule was split into two phases. The first phase, the builders clean, was carried out in stages across approximately three weeks.
Prior to starting any activities at BAM’s site on UWE campus, we inspected it to better understand any constraints we may face. After consulting with the sites management team we concluded that it would be best to start operations slightly earlier than planned. We identified improvements to the schedule, enabling is to work more efficiently while improving the quality standards at the same time.
Initially, we sent in a team of our specialist post-construction window cleaners, their job was to clean the internal frames and glass before the build clean was carried out. As the fixtures were not installed at this stage it meant that we had easy access to the windows. The sheer number of windows installed at the site meant that it would be a time-intensive job to be able to complete to the high standards that we work to – moving our schedule forward ensured our targets where met on time and to the required standards.
The bulders clean took approximately three weeks to complete and once finished we had a couple of weeks until the next phase would be started. During this time, however, the final finishing touches were added to the building. Proceeding this was the second and final phase of the construction clean, the sparkle clean.
The sparkle clean was carried out in approximately three to four days with upwards of twenty of our construction cleaning operatives on site carrying out the work. As always with such a large project, this was lead by a senior member of our management team who was on-site, overseeing all of our staff members throughout each day.
We managed to finish the works ahead of the scheduled time frame and the client, BAM construction, where more than happy with the quality of our completed work at the School of Engineering building at UWE Frenchay campus.
